Appendix A: California Abuse/Neglect Mandated Reporters

Child Abuse/Neglect (Penal Code § 11165.7) Elder/Dependent Adult Abuse (Welfare & Inst. Code §§ 15630, 15610.37) Injury by Firearm or Assault/Abuse (Penal Code § 11160)
(1) Teacher.

(2) Instructional aide.

(3) Teacher’s aide or teacher’s assistant.

(4) Administrative officer or supervisor of
child welfare and attendance, or a certificated
pupil-personnel employee of any school.

(5) Head Start program teacher.

(6) Administrator of a public or private day
camp.

(7) Administrator or employee of a youth
center, recreation program or organization.

(8) Administrator or employee of an
organization whose duties require direct
contact and supervision of children.

(9) Licensee, administrator or employee of a
licensed community care or child day care
facility.
(10) Social workers.

(11) An employee of a police department or a
peace officer.

(12) Administrator or presenter of, or a
counselor in, a child abuse prevention program
in any public or private school.

(13) Registered psychological assistant.

(14) Marriage, family and child therapist
trainee or unlicensed intern.

(15) Alcohol and drug counselor for a state
licensed or certified program.

(16) Physician, surgeon, psychiatrist,
psychologist, dentist, resident, intern,
podiatrist, chiropractor, licensed nurse, dental
hygienist, optometrist, marriage, family and
child counselor, clinical social worker, or other
licensed health care professional.

(17) Certified emergency medical technician I
or II, paramedic, or other emergency services
personnel.

(18) Any person who performs autopsies.

(19) Clergy member and custodian of records
of a clergy member.

(20) Employees and administrators of a postsecondary institution whose duties involve contact on a regular basis with children

(21) Supervisors of employees and administrators of a postsecondary institution whose duties involve contact on a regular basis with children

(22) Athletic coaches, including but not limited to, assistant coaches or graduate assistants

(23) Commercial computer technicians

(1) Any employee (including support staff and
maintenance staff) working in any facility that
provides any elder or dependent care services.(2) Any employee providing direct health care
or social services to an elder or dependent
adult.(3) Health care practitioners.

i. Physician, surgeon, psychiatrist,
psychologist, dentist, resident, intern,
podiatrist, chiropractor, licensed nurse,
dental hygienist, optometrist, marriage,
family and child counselor, clinical social
worker, or other licensed health care
professional.

ii. Certified emergency medical technician
I or II, paramedic, or other emergency
services personnel.

iii. Registered psychological assistant.

iv. Marriage, family and child therapist
trainee or unlicensed intern.

(4) Clergy.
